AASSA Radio: Episode 6: Instructional Coaches

In episode 6 of AASSA Radio, you will hear an interview conducted by Dr. Dereck Rhoads, AASSA’s executive director, with Kristen Moreland and Julia Dennis. They chat about their role as instructional coaches, the need for a collaborative culture, high levels of teacher advocacy and the importance of time and reflection in the learning process. Kristen is in her 1st year as an Instructional Coach at the Pan American School of Porto Alegre in Brazil, and her 6th year as a coach overall.  Previously Kristen was an English teacher at the Koc School in Istanbul for 5 years, and she worked 2 years as a TEFL volunteer for the Peace Corps in Cameroon, Central Africa. After teaching middle school math in Texas public schools, Julia moved to the International School of Panama to continue teaching. Her transition to coaching took her to the Pan American School of Porto Alegre, where she spent 3 years.  This is Julia’s 4th year as an instructional coach and her first year at the American School Foundation of Monterrey.
