A WELCOME FROM OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Greetings! Welcome to the AMISA Monthly, your guide to all things AMISA, including news and information on upcoming professional learning, recruiting events, and specials from our member schools and partners.
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused us to reflect and adapt to the significant challenges we all face. Our core VALUES at AMISA have continued to guide our work to champion progressive learning in a safe and collaborative environment as being essential to bettering the world; and we believe that respect, trust, and compassion generate positive relationships within a learning community. If you have these values as well, and you are considering an international teaching job, please take a look at our teacher recruiting service and all AMISA has to offer. Again, hello, welcome and thank you for all you do.

NEW BLOG POST: Disrupting Our Hiring: How Our Algorithms and Hiring Processes Can Disenfranchise True Talent
Here's a preview of what you'll get in a recent AMISA Blog post written by Adam Slaton, Chief Learning Officer at AMISA.
I watched as he uploaded his documents and hit “submit” on a job. Within three minutes he received a rejection email from the employer saying that he was not selected to continue in the interview process; he did not have the qualifications needed for the position. I was shocked.
How could someone from the company have possibly reviewed his information so quickly and made a decision about his candidacy?
Then it hit me. Algorithms.
Read this brilliant post about algorithms, hiring processes, and the risk of disenfranchising true talent.
