On the final day of the inaugural AMISA Leadership Conference, LeadCon24, I had the pleasure of sitting down with Nada Collins, Superintendent at Asociación Escuelas Lincoln, the American International School of Buenos Aires in Buenos Aires, Argentina and the former Superintendent at Escuelas Lincoln, Madeleine Maceda Heide. Our conference theme of Elevated Leadership, Lead Together, Rise Together was wonderfully captured by the joint actions and interactions of both Nada and Madeleine.

In watching and listening I observed wisdom, humility, kindness, honor, strength, humor, and respect. Respect for the past and the present as well as an understanding of the absolute importance of teamwork. For example, the Lincoln team’s presentation on the final day of the conference was an outstanding example of Leading Together! The team presented in duos, with one Operations leader (Finance, Admission, IT etc.) being joined by one Academic leader (Principal, Director of Learning etc.) in sharing how the entire leadership team at Lincoln works together. It was truly an excellent example of teamwork and the importance of all aspects of the school working together. In addition, it was an example that leadership is not only about understanding the technical aspects of the job, but it is about relationships and working together - especially in schools, where human interactions are at the heart of everything that is done to help students and families succeed.
Each year, schools around the world will engage in leadership transitions as school leaders leave and new leaders arrive. However, it is rare that a past superintendent and the current superintendent of a school are able to sit down together and share parts of their respective and collective journeys with a broader audience. Therefore, I invite you to listen and enjoy the leadership takeaways from this conversation. #AMISA #Bettertogether
