LIBRARY/MEDIA, TECHNOLOGY, AND CURRICULUM COORDINATORS MEETING
By: Carolina Calvo, Colegio Jorge Washington, Library/Media Coordinator, Cartagena, Colombia
As educators in multicultural schools, we must permanently grow in our areas of expertise and find ways to integrate with other areas to teach our 21st century learners. To accomplish this, last May, Colegio Jorge Washington (COJOWA) in Cartagena, Colombia hosted a LIBRARY/MEDIA, TECHNOLOGY, AND CURRICULUM COORDINATORS MEETING. These three major areas were integrated for the first time, and for three days, over 50 participants attended the event.
It was a very productive and rewarding experience, and we had the privilege to count on excellent professionals that enriched and integrated topics for the three areas. We had the honor to have the following guests join us:
Doug Johnson, International consultant, Director of Technology for the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage (MN) Public Schools
Arthur VanderVeen, VP of Business Strategy and Development at Compass Learning
Christopher Sienra-Canas, International Account Executive at Schoology
Chiara Trivella- Sales Manager for Phidias Software
José Rodriguez, Regional Manager Caribbean and South America- Follett School Solutions, Inc.
Hopefully we will continue holding this event year after year. The event proved to be a positive and necessary opportunity to share and complement what each of our schools needs to continue preparing 21st century students.
